Ff2 pixel remaster is surprisingly not bad. The game is very grinding and I can see how that may be painful to get through. However, the boosters are your best friend. Similar to ff8 you can easily break the game by maxing out every stat.

I've been playing on standard key layout for so long, I don't think I could switch to grid, though if I was new, I'd probably use the grid layout.

Recently been playing it on my psp, fantastic game i like the simplicity of the first trilogy before becoming final fantasy, for technnicality in context to avoid confusions, for modern fans old Final fantasy is not final fantasy for them and that is valid point but it is worth playing them, its simplistic and not much lore story revolved about whats happening, difficult dungeons, hidden path and secret chests, classic exploration and classic investigative NPC dialogs and perhaps rarely a very simplistic side quests. Pixel remaster does not have the post game adventure which is a disappointment, even switchinh party is not available

I liked ff7 for the materia mechanic. I played it through 10 years ago and dont remember many aspects of the story, the characters I found mostly generic qnd put them on par with ff5 or ff8s characters, even ff2. The music had some great tracks, but I found one winged angel (although ambitious) very overrated. After 2 minutes of hearing it I could have been perfectly happy never hearing it again. I think there were some sephiroth mini battles earlier in the game that used another score I thought was 100x better but I dont remember the name of it. My first play through of the game lasted only 10 hours and was still stuck in midgar hell so I quit out of boredom, and finally gave it a second chance 10 years ago. I think FF6 should have gotten the remake. Overall I thought it was a good game but liked the stories of FF4, ff4 after years, ff6, ff9 and maybe ff10 much better

You see this game as a victim. I am just playing this for fun. Public school ruins everything. Don't write reports the way school tells you too. I can't watch this.

Even after all these years, pronunciation of Chocobo sounds funny to me. I first heard it as 'Cocoa-bo'. Chocobo sounds like a brand of chocolate powder that you add into your milk

I didn't play all the way through the game until the pixel remaster came out, but once I did, it became my all-time favorite. It has everything I want from a final fantasy game: full job system, memorable characters, powerful emotional moments (for EVERY character, not just THAT moment), and also yes, THAT moment.

does anyone know why they used slot 4 for their base and left the previous slots empty? I am just curious why because I would naturally use that first slot unless there was something I missed

Brand new to SC but long time Warcraft III player and Rise of Nations player. Just played 5 or so games against bots last night with a friend who’s a long time veteran of the game. Can’t wait to put some of these tactics and basics into practice so we can start hopping into versus modes together. Really well made video!

Super late but hey, how dual wielding works in the NES version: Only your main hand weapon is considered for the attack, the offhand weapon only matters for evasion bonuses (really important for defender and main gauche on off hand) and getting weapon exp. Getting double weapon exp might be worth forgoing a shield for grinding sometimes, specially since Leon can get decent evasion% from the getgo if he equips the defender on his right hand (since his base shield rank sucks). Off hand main gauche is great for red mage builds since you get evasion and not a big hit on magic accuracy.

I feel like there should be a mention of an strategy of 'defense' alongside 'aggression', 'greed', and 'technology’. Countered by greed/technology, probably.

i couldnt get into the NES version so i had a bias towards it but when my friend let my borrow a few games for my ps1 this was one of them. first time i played it i was hooked story line graphics music was fantastic. i like the part you can play a game inside the game at the arcade

Just finished FF1 for the first time ever over the last 8 days (the pixel remastered version) what a THRILL - it holds up well if you appreciate the time and place it came from

There's a romhack called Final Fantasy II Restored that fixes most of the gameplay problems while still keeping the activity based progression system. Check the readme, it has a comprehensive list of changes.
